Product Description The book SHORT HOPS: My Life as a Flyer! is the memoir of Lt. Col. David Arthur Jarratt, AUS Retired, and was originally conceived as a series of short stories to be published separately in Flying Magazines and periodicals, and pertains to his personal aviation experiences in the US Air Force, the US Army Infantry and the commercial helicopter industry. ALTERNATED: Short Hops, Revisited is an enlarged and edited version of the original. Placed in chronological order for the readers' enjoyment, although the stories can be read in any order, ALTERNATES starts with a childhood desire to become a flyer in a story titled "First Flights", chronicles true incidents in the life of a flyer leading to the earning of his coveted Air Force wings of silver with a story titled "Always in Threes" and includes stories from Iceland ("Boney's Lesson"), Air Rescue Service in Florida ("DUMBO") and eventually transitions into Army Aviation ("The oldest helicopter in the inventory") with its changing tactics ("Nap-of-the-earth") and training ("Night Vision Goggles"), all of which result in his receiving the Army's coveted Parachute Badge ("Airborne!"), Master Army Aviator's badge ("California, Here I Come!") and the highest civilian Air Transport ratings ("Me and Airplanes") and ("Jets Again"). In as much as this is a memoir, primarily of the aviation life of Colonel Jarratt, the book description is actually best outlined by reading the Author's Biography on his web page at .
